Experts recommend replacing summer tires after eight to ten years, regardless of their visual condition. The age of a tire can be determined by the DOT number on the tire sidewall, with the last two digits indicating the year of production. In addition, drivers should pay attention to the minimum tread depth and external damage, as worn tires can affect safety. The legally required minimum tread depth is 1.6 millimeters. However, it is recommended to replace summer tires at three millimeters of remaining tread depth and winter tires at four millimeters to ensure traction in poor weather conditions.
