The accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on the two-lane bridge above the traffic circle. A Mercedes Sprinter with a flatbed, occupied by two people, skidded for an as yet unknown reason while driving in the direction of Ulm and crashed with the passenger side into an oncoming car transporter truck. The truck was traveling in the direction of Ravensburg at the time. The 39-year-old passenger of the Mercedes was too late to receive any help. He died of his severe injuries at the scene of the accident. The 32-year-old driver of the Sprinter was seriously injured and had to be taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. The 37-year-old driver of the car transporter was slightly injured. He was also taken to hospital. The vehicles involved suffered property damage of at least 350,000 euros. The car transporter was loaded with two new trucks. These were not insignificantly damaged in the head-on collision. During the accident investigation and the recovery of the vehicles involved, the B30 had to be fully closed for several hours. Traffic was diverted locally. Several ambulances, emergency doctors and the Biberach fire department were on the scene. A towing company recovered the damaged vehicles with a crane. By order of the Ravensburg public prosecutor's office, an expert was commissioned to investigate the cause of the accident.
