The spirit of the legendary Marchfelderhof chef Gerhard Bocek floated noticeably in the Gobelin Hall where the traditional Marchfelder Asparagus Gala went over the stage. Corona compliant with all prescribed guidelines, the gourmet order Chaîne des Rôtisseurs presented the Golden Asparagus this year to the asparagus chef of the year to TV star chef Johann Lafer! "This year we had to do without a band, Ramba Zamba, cocktail reception, Bussi Bussi and tight hugs," Marchfelderhof Neo-Chef Peter Großmann is partly disappointed but also relieved that the small celebration crowd meticulously and disciplinedly bowed to the Corona specifications. Between a whimsical and amusing laudation to Lafer by Barbara Wussow, who "anspargelte" with her Albert Fortell and the award of another Golden Asparagus to the asparagus gourmet 2021, the Ur-Weinviertler and extreme artist Prof.Hermann Nitsch, let it not take the "butcher of the nation" Gerhard Ernst and Austria's best Freddie Mercury Reinwald Kranner as well as star violinist Barbara Helfgott to dedicate a G'stanzl to the honorees. Marchfelderhof chef Christian Langer pulled out all the kitchen stops and had of asparagus gel cream slice with Baltic salmon, asparagus foam soup with king prawns, about (no na) asparagus risotto with pike perch and ox cheeks with duet of green and white solo asparagus. Young vintner Katharina Baumgartner kredenzte the suitable wines to the menu. Haubenkoch Manfred Buchinger threw a sharp eye on it and enjoyed like Federal Minister a.D. Dr.Werner Faßlabend with wife Martina, Kathi Stumpf with its Alexander Beza and Gabriela Benesch with your Erich Furrer, Grande Dame of the Kabaretts Edith Leyrer, Benim-Pabst Thomas Schäfer-Elmayer the asparagus up to the Abwinken.
