Source: Motorredaktion (Glomex)

With the Highlander, Toyota deliberately does without Plug In Hybrid technology. The large SUV with up to 7 seats drives nevertheless much electrically, altogether the Highlander offers in Europe 248 HP achievement, remains however owing to two electrical engines, which are combined with the internal combustion engine, nevertheless quite economically in the consumption. We will try to find out whether it is an alternative to the plug-in hybrid in the test. In any case, it is large, comfortable and practical. Especially because it never needs to be plugged in. It fills its own battery while driving. technical data: CO2 efficiency class* A+ Fuel type Gasoline Hybrid Consumption, combined* 5.5 - 5.1 l/100 km Consumption, urban* 5.8 - 5.4 l/100 km Consumption, extra-urban* 5.4 - 5.2 l/100 km CO2 emissions, combined* 124 - 116 g/km Emission standard* EURO 6 AP Tank capacity 65 l Consumption, combined (WLTP) (l/100km) 7 - 6. 6 l/100 km Fuel consumption, combined (WLTP) - Max (l/100km) 7.2 l/100 km CO2 emission, combined (WLTP) (g/km) 158 - 149 g/km CO2 emission, combined (WLTP) - Max (g/km) 163 g/km Driving noise (dB(A)) 68. 0 dB(A) Stationary noise (dB(A)) 71. 0 dB(A) Engine speed (for stationary noise) (rpm) 2500 1/min (0) Engine technology Number of cylinders 4 CYLINDER, IN LINE Engine design FUEL INJECTION Valve train 16-valve DOHC, VVT-iE (Intake), VVT-i (Exhaust) Displacement in cc 2487 cc Conventional engine output (DIN hp) 190 hp 140/6000 kW@UpM Electric motor: Engine power in kW 134 kw Electric motor: Engine power in hp 182 Battery Nickel-metal hydride Total hybrid system power (kW) 182 kw - 248 hp
