BMW iX in Dingolfing - vehicle and electric drive production on site

Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

The production of the BMW iX in Dingolfing benefits from the enormously broad know-how and competence of the technologies located at the location. For example, not only the expertise flows into the lightweight body of the BMW iX with its intelligent material mix of aluminum, die-cast aluminum, carbon and high-strength or ultra-high-strength steels from the production of the BMW 7 Series, as well as know-how from small-scale body production for Rolls-Royce and that from the production of the aluminum chassis for the BMW i3, both of which are located in Dingolfing. Central components of the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology are also produced directly on site, including the highly integrated electric drive and high-voltage batteries used in the BMW iX. The Dingolfing component plant 02.20 acts as a global competence center for battery and electric motor production of the BMW Group and is currently being massively expanded to a workforce of up to 2,000 employees. It will be able to supply electric drives for more than half a million electrified vehicles per year as early as 2022. In the past year alone, the number of employees in electric drive production at the site doubled to more than 1,200. The expansion was accompanied by extensive qualification measures. The Dingolfing location is thus a prime example of the successful transformation of the BMW Group's plants in the direction of e-mobility and digitization. "
