The new Golf R Variant is equipped with a new multifunction sports leather steering wheel and top sports seats at the front as standard. These have integrated headrests with blue R logos. The seat center panels are covered with “R” fabric seat covers in black and blue. The insides of the seat bolsters are made of "ArtVelours" micro-fleece in a flint gray color. The leather package “Nappa” can be ordered as an option. This includes active air conditioning of the front seats as well as interior door elements in a carbon look with blue applications. Compared to the previous model, the controls for the driver have been almost completely redesigned. Touch surfaces, sliders and screens replace the functions of classic control elements and analog displays. The R-specific Digital Cockpit Pro offers exclusive features such as a new, horizontal speed indicator on the upper edge of the fully digital display and a lap timer for time measurement on the race track. Operation is optionally supported by an adaptive voice control. As with all Volkswagen, the new MIB3 infotainment system ensures modern connectivity. It is networked online with a wide range of services from the brand's own “Volkswagen We” ecosystem and enables cloud-based personalization using “Volkswagen ID”. The Digital Cockpit Pro and the infotainment system are arranged on a visual axis and can always be optimally viewed and operated
