DS 3 Crossback @ MIMO 2021
The international automotive media expressed excitement and glowing praise for its design, driving range and technological features. As the first model built on Hyundai’s new dedicated architecture for battery electric vehicles called Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), IONIQ 5 sets the benchmark to redefine electric mobility lifestyles with sustainable and innovative features – from the eco-friendly materials in its interior design, to ultra-fast charging and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities. Following the car’s debut via a virtual world premiere last month, the company recorded 236,000 expressions of interest in Europe within three days, while the 3,000 units of the limited edition IONIQ 5 Project 45 were almost three times over-subscribed within 24 hours of reservations opening for European customers.
With the standard Performance Battery, the new entry-level model delivers up to 300 kW (408 PS; Taycan with Performance Battery: Fuel consumption combined 0 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined 0 g/km, Electricity consumption combined 28.0 kwh/100 km) in overboost mode with Launch Control; this increases to an output of up to 350 kW (476 PS; Taycan with Performance Battery Plus: Fuel consumption combined 0 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined 0 g/km, Electricity consumption combined 28.7 kwh/100 km) with the optional Performance Battery Plus. Nominal power is 240 kW (326 PS) or 280 kW (380 PS) respectively. As the youngest member of the model family, the Taycan includes, right from the start, the new features introduced in the other versions at the model year changeover. For instance, the Plug & Charge function enables convenient charging and payments without the need for cards or an app: as soon as the charging cable is plugged in, the Taycan establishes encrypted communication with the Plug & Charge-compatible charging station. The charging process then starts automatically. Payments are also processed automatically.
An all-electric innovation that has racked up around 50 international awards, the Taycan is the sports car you’d expect from Porsche, and more. So, when it came to introducing a car this exciting to Australia, it deserved an equally dazzling debut. Sydney’s stunning Darling Harbour recently played backdrop to an innovative water projection featuring the new all-electric Taycan. Over the course of one night, thousands of people enjoying their evening on the waterfront were enamoured and entertained by an eye-catching spectacle playing out over the harbour.
