Kia triumphs again in the vote for the World Women's Cars: The new Kia Sorento was named "Women's World Car of the Year 2021" in the "Large SUV" category. The Korean brand was already successful in the previous "WWCOTY" award, which took place at the end of 2019, and provided two winners with the XCeed ("Urban Car") and the e-Soul ("Green Car"). Launched in 2010 by New Zealand journalist Sandy Myhre, the competition evaluates new models according to set criteria that guide consumers. This year, 50 female motor journalists from 38 countries and five continents make up the all-female jury of experts. They determine the overall winner, who will be announced on March 8, in a final vote in which the winners of a total of nine competition categories are put to the vote. In the large SUV class, the Sorento was shortlisted together with two competitors. There it prevailed with outstanding ratings in the areas of safety, quality, price, design, driving dynamics and environmental compatibility. The fourth generation of Kia's flagship model features a new SUV platform from the brand tailored to the integration of electric drives. Among other options, the Sorento is available as a plug-in hybrid gasoline engine with 195 kW (265 hp) total output and an electric range of 68 kilometers (combined, according to NEDC). The new platform and longer wheelbase also make it one of the most spacious and variable SUVs with three rows of seats (third row optional).

Nearly 30 years ago, the Jeep® Grand Cherokee began its legacy as the most awarded SUV in history. Today, following four groundbreaking generations of the vehicle, countless industry accolades and nearly 7 million in global sales, the Jeep brand continues to shatter expectations of the full-size SUV segment with the all-new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L delivers improved unrivaled capability along with composed on-road driving dynamics. Legendary off-road capability begins courtesy of three 4x4 systems – Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II with rear electronic limited slip-differential (eLSD). All three systems are equipped with an active transfer case to improve traction by moving torque to work with the wheel with the most grip.
The all-new SEAT Leon has been awarded a five-star safety rating from testing organisation Euro NCAP. The result is a demonstration of the work completed during the Leon’s development to create a car that delivers one of the safest vehicles on the market, especially as Euro NCAP’s testing methods have become even more challenging in 2020. A key change for 2020 Euro NCAP’s testing procedures is the introduction of the moving barrier to moving car frontal crash test, replacing the moderate offset-deformable barrier test. The test helps the organisation to evaluate the protection of occupants inside the car, but also assesses how the cars’ front-end structurers contribute to. That isn’t the only change in the testing procedure. Side impacts have been updated to include adjustments to the near-side barrier test speed and mass, increasing the severity of the test. And for the first time Euro NCAP evaluates far-side impact protection, focusing on driver protection and the potential interaction between driver and front seat passenger.
