Elantra N is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo flat power engine with a 52-mm turbine wheel, which is 5 mm larger in diameter than before, and a 12.5-mm turbine passage with an area increased by 2.5 mm. These enhancements, along with the optimization of the shape and material of the cylinder lock, improve both the performance and durability of the engine. As a result, the flat power technology maintains the maximum output from about 5,500 rpm for brisk acceleration. Elantra N’s flat power engine is mated with an 8-speed wet dual clutch transmission (DCT), delivering maximum output of 280 horsepower (ps) and maximum torque of 40 kgf·m. With N Grin Shift (NGS), the boost pressure increases, temporarily enhancing output up to 290 ps. As a result, Elantra N achieves a top speed of 250 km/h and runs 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds.

While a modern 1.6-liter GDI Kappa gasoline four-cylinder combined with a permanent magnet electric motor provides a system output of 104 kW/141 hp in the Kona Hybrid, customers can choose from two battery-electric powertrains in the Kona Electric. The Kona Electric with a 39.2 kWh battery has a 100 kW/136 hp electric motor and enables a range of 305 kilometers (according to the WLTP standard). In the version with a 64 kWh high-performance battery and 150 kW/204 hp electric motor, the range is even 484 kilometers (according to the WLTP standard).
Compact external dimensions coupled with a generous amount of space and a high load capacity open up a diverse range of applications for the new Mercedes-Benz Citan, especially in inner-city delivery and service provision operations. It is available both as a Panel Van and a Tourer. Wide-opening sliding doors on the left and right sides of the vehicle, as well as a low loading sill optionally enable comfortable access to the interior and easy loading of the vehicle. The new Citan compact van can be ordered from mid-September 2021 with a starting price expected to be less than 23,800 euros. The net list price of the basic model is thus anticipated to start at less than 20,000 euros.
Development laboratories at Volkswagen in Salzgitter - Next Generation battery cells - Elelctrical testfield
Volkswagen Group Components has opened one of the most modern laboratories for cell research and development in Europe in Salzgitter, Germany. Thus, the global Volkswagen Group is further expanding its expertise in battery technology and taking the next step towards developing and producing its own battery cells for electric vehicles. From 2025 onwards, the Volkswagen unified cell is scheduled to roll off the production line in Salzgitter. In the future, around 250 experts will conduct research in the areas of cell development, analytics and testing in a total of four laboratories. The Group is investing some 70 million euros in the facilities. The new unified cell for the volume segment is scheduled to roll off the production line at the Gigafactory in Salzgitter from 2025. By 2030, the Volkswagen Group plans to operate six cell factories in Europe together with partners with a production capacity of 240 GWh. Prospectively, cells with an annual capacity of 40 GWh could be produced in Salzgitter. The new unified cell is expected to unlock synergies and reduce battery costs by up to 50 percent.
