McLaren-Pilot Lando Norris secured his first home victory at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone by taking advantage of a mistake by championship leader and teammate Oscar Piastri. Norris now trails Piastri by only eight points after Piastri's sixth win of the season was marred by a ten-second penalty. Piastri, who led for most of the race despite several incidents, was penalized for driving unsafely during one of the three Safety Car periods. The 24-year-old had to serve the penalty during his final pit stop, allowing Norris to overtake him in the closing stages and claim his fourth win of the season. "Aside from the championship, I think this is the best feeling you can have when you achieve something and feel proud. In the final laps, I was just looking into the crowd. I was just trying to take it all in and enjoy the moment because something like this might never happen again," said Lando Norris. Red Bull's Max Verstappen started from pole position but couldn't match the pace of the McLarens as both Piastri and Norris passed the 27-year-old in lap 11. Verstappen remained competitive throughout the race but spun behind the last Safety Car in lap 22, dropping to tenth place on the grid. The four-time world champion recovered and finished fifth but now trails Piastri by 69 points in the driver standings and has only won two races this season. Kick Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg climbed from 19th place to his first podium in 239 attempts, while Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton took fourth place.
