According to a study by Talker Research for Pendulum, Americans predict that avoiding processed foods (34%), healthy aging (33%), and improving gut health (22%) will be the top health trends in 2025. Other expected trends include the use of Wearable Tech (22%) and artificial intelligence (21%) in healthcare, as well as a shift towards functional approaches to well-being (20%). Survey participants rated their overall health at an average of 6/10. Nearly two-thirds (64%) have difficulty staying awake during the day, and 43% frequently suffer from digestive problems, with some struggling with symptoms multiple times a day. Looking to the future, 90% of respondents have health-related resolutions for 2025, including more exercise (53%), maintaining a healthy weight (49%), and improving gut health (26%). While 69% regularly take supplements like vitamins and probiotics, 66% admit they don't fully understand the benefits of probiotics. Despite spending an average of $588 per year on supplements, many see no significant results. Experts emphasize the importance of choosing clinically proven products to effectively improve gut health. "Research shows that Americans are more aware than ever that a renewed, holistic approach to health is the way forward... Instead of just scratching the surface, they understand the importance of delving deeper and addressing issues of gut health and metabolic health to be healthier and feel better," says Dr. Adam Perlman, Chief Medical Officer at Pendulum. The majority (83%) believe that healthy digestion and a healthy metabolism are crucial to well-being. Respondents estimate that improved gut health could increase their quality of life by 46%.
