Preparing tea in the microwave may be quick, but it's certainly not the best method. Here's why you should stop using your microwave for tea preparation. In a study conducted by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, the process of heating liquids in a microwave was examined. The electric field that serves as the heat source in the microwave causes a liquid to have two different temperatures. This means that the water in a cup can be cold at the bottom and hot at the top, which is not ideal for brewing tea. To make a good cup of tea, the water must have a uniform temperature. That's why it's best to use a stove or a kettle instead. For many, preparing tea is also a relaxing process, a way to take a few minutes to unwind in the middle of a busy day.
