Toyota Plug-in Hybrid - Economical and efficient on the road

Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

A plug-in hybrid is a combination of a full hybrid and an electric car. The lithium-ion battery of a car with a plug-in hybrid has a larger capacity than that of a self-charging hybrid. As a result, a PHEV can travel much longer distances in purely electric mode. As with electric cars, the PHEV converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. The advantage of a plug-in hybrid over a purely electric car is the drivable range due to the cooperation of the combustion engine and electric motor.
