Ireland's public broadcaster RTÉ has stated that it will not participate in the next Eurovision Song Contest if Israel is allowed to participate. Participation under these circumstances is "untenable" given the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. The broadcaster cited the extent of civilian casualties - according to local health authorities, more than 64,000 deaths have been reported since the start of the Israeli military offensive in 2023. RTÉ stated that several members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organizes the Eurovision Song Contest, have already expressed concerns about Israel's participation. In its statement, RTÉ also highlighted the killing of journalists in the Gaza Strip, the restriction of access for international media, and the still unresolved situation of the remaining hostages. A final decision on Ireland's participation in the competition depends on the EBU's decision on Israel's admission. Ireland has been participating in the competition since 1965 and shares the record of seven victories with Sweden.
