Jannik Sinner is the first Italian to win Wimbledon after defeating his rival Carlos Alcaraz in four sets at the All England Club. Sinner, who won the competition 4:6, 6:4, 6:4, 6:4, avenged his loss in the French Open final against Alcaraz over a month ago. "It's so special. I'm living my dream [...] I had a very tough loss in Paris, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how you win or lose - you just have to understand what you did wrong. We accepted the loss, kept working, and that's why I'm holding this trophy now," said Jannik Sinner. Sinner took a 4-2 lead in the first set, but Alcaraz fought back, won the next four games, and secured the first set on the Centre Court. However, in the first game of the second set, the Italian managed to break Alcaraz and maintain the lead to win the set 6:4. In the third set, Sinner and Alcaraz each won the first four service games before Sinner capitalized on Alcaraz's weak second serves for the crucial break. The 23-year-old served for a 2-1 lead in the third set and secured another break in the fourth set to get closer to his first Wimbledon title. Despite Alcaraz's efforts, Sinner held his serve and won his first Grand Slam tournament on a surface other than hard court and his fourth major title in his career. With the triumph, Sinner also ended Alcaraz's 24-match winning streak at Wimbledon, as the Spaniard thwarted his attempt to win three consecutive titles at SW19. The two have shared the last seven Grand Slam titles and will enter the US Open next month with one major title each, with Alcaraz leading the head-to-head with five titles.
