NRW invests 318 million euros in culture

North Rhine-Westphalia plans to invest a total of 318 million euros in culture in 2026. This is around 8 million euros more than last year. A special focus is on children and education, with over 43 billion euros, which accounts for more than a third of the entire state budget. The SPD, however, criticizes the cuts in universities, which are supposed to receive 120 million euros less next year. Universities of applied sciences warn of a loss of significance, while the AfD and FDP reject the budget plan as too expensive.
