For the first time since her 17th birthday, Taylor Swift is not nominated for a Grammy this year because she missed the submission deadline. Her latest album "The Life of a Showgirl" and the lead single "The Fate of Ophelia" were released more than a month after the nomination deadline and are therefore ineligible. Although her single "Tim McGraw" from 2007 would have been eligible, it was not submitted in any Grammy category that year. Since then, Swift has been nominated in all Grammy years except for 2009, 2011, and 2017, despite submitting entries every year. While her debut album did not receive a nomination for Best Country Album, all subsequent studio albums were considered in genre categories and/or for Album of the Year. In addition, two of her singles were awarded "Record of the Year," providing a preview of upcoming albums: "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "Shake It Off." Swift's first nomination in 2008 lost to Amy Winehouse. She has since won 14 Grammy Awards and remains the only artist to win the Album of the Year Grammy four times.
