After being deported from Israel and landing in Paris, Swedish activist Greta Thunberg called for increased measures to support relief efforts for Gaza. Upon her arrival at Charles de Gaulle Airport, the 22-year-old activist urged the release of the remaining individuals from the Freedom Flotilla. The Madleen, a British-flagged aid ship bound for Gaza that sought to break Israel's blockade against Gaza, set sail from Sicily in early June. The aid ship, operated by the pro-Palestinian Freedom Flotilla Coalition, was seized by Israeli forces who brought Greta and the other eleven passengers aboard the ship ashore. The Israeli Ministry released a photo of Thunberg aboard a plane en route to Paris, later confirmed by the young activist who described the situation as "chaotic and uncertain." She stated to reporters at the Paris airport, "[Israel has] committed an illegal act by abducting us against our will in international waters and taking us to Israel, holding us captive in the ship's lower deck and not allowing us to disembark, and so on." Thunberg also rejected footage showing Israeli forces offering sandwiches to the people aboard the ship, which was published by Israel on social media as a PR stunt. According to the legal organization Adalah representing the people aboard the flotilla, Thunberg, two other activists, and a journalist agreed to be deported and leave Israel.
