US President Donald Trump signals renewed trade tensions with China, arguing that Beijing "violated" a deal to de-escalate tariffs, at a time when both sides appeared deadlocked in negotiations. "China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US," says Trump in a post on his Truth Social platform, hours after his Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said trade talks were "a bit stalled." Firefighters begin their fifth day battling the wildfire that has ravaged 17,000 hectares in the Corbieres massif, in southern France, while an orange heatwave warning threatens to create conditions favourable to the fire reigniting, despite it having been contained since Thursday evening. The mission of the thousand firefighters still deployed is now to monitor the 90 kilometres of fire edges and prevent any flare ups, as authorities fear the return of the tramontane, the hot, dry wind that fanned the flames in the early days.
