Hundreds of thousands of people bid farewell to Pope Franziskus in Rome. At a solemn service in St. Peter's Square, Cardinal Dean Giovanni Battista Re recalled Franziskus as a bridge builder who had repeatedly advocated for peace and refugees during his tenure. The funeral mass was attended by hundreds of bishops and cardinals, as well as around 50 heads of state and government and several monarchs from around the world.
