Hockenheim: In the early hours of Easter Saturday, around 01:30, a 530 hp BMW 850i Gran Coupe veered off the road on the grandstand street, collided with a tree, and then crashed head-on into a ticket booth at the south grandstand - it was completely destroyed. The car had been rented out by a car dealership over the Easter holidays. According to the renter, a 19-year-old passenger took the wheel, started the engine, and drove off - without permission. While accelerating, he lost control of the vehicle. Two occupants managed to free themselves, and the driver was rescued from the wreckage by the fire department. All three were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The vehicle was pulled out of the debris by a forklift. The 19-year-old, who does not have a driver's license, will now face criminal charges. The property damage amounts to around 80,000 to 100,000 euros. The police are investigating.
