Usedom: Holidaymaker drowns while bathing in the Baltic Sea

A 63-year-old holidaymaker from Rhineland-Palatinate drowned while swimming off the island of Usedom. She apparently underestimated the current at the beach of Heringsdorf and got into trouble. The water rescue team was able to recover the lifeless woman from the water. Despite a 45-minute resuscitation attempt by the paramedic, her life could not be saved. Bathing accidents like this happen repeatedly in the Baltic Sea.
