Walldorf: Yesterday around 10:30 a.m., a police car crashed on the street "Campus" during an emergency response with special rights. The officers had been called to a burglary alarm in Walldorf. Just before the police car turned from Hasso-Plattner-Ring into the street "Campus," another vehicle crossed the path. At that time, the bollards embedded in the street were lowered. The patrol team wanted to take the opportunity to quickly reach the scene. About 15 meters before passing, the bollards rose again. An immediate emergency brake could not prevent the collision with the bollards. Fortunately, the two officers were not injured, but they were taken to the hospital as a precaution. The vehicle suffered damage in the low five-digit range. The police car was no longer roadworthy and had to be towed.
