At least three dead after huge avalanche near Zermatt

At least three people have died in a huge avalanche near Zermatt in Switzerland. Another person was found alive, reported the police in the canton of Valais late in the evening. It is not yet clear whether there are any more people under the masses of snow. Rescue teams had suspended their search for the time being. The avalanche apparently started in the Riffelberg ski area.

Spain expects exceptional May heatwave

The Spanish meteorological services are forecasting unusual high temperatures, particularly in the Sevilla region, where thermometers could reach over 40 degrees Celsius.
