Myanmar Junta Stages Military Parade for Armed Forces Day
The military junta in Myanmar conducted its customary annual military parade in Naypyidaw, the capital, as a demonstration of strength amid mounting challenges posed by an expanding armed opposition that has gained control over extensive territories. Leading the event, junta leader Min Aung Hlaing personally inspected the troops during the parade held on Armed Forces Day, a remembrance of the inception of indigenous resistance against Japanese occupation during World War II.
