The Straußenhof in Weddingstedt (Schleswig-Holstein) brings African flair to the Dithmarscher pastures. The first ostriches moved in there in the summer of 2020. Farmer Nina Wilken feeds and cares for the around 130 animals, which feel at home on the farm despite changeable weather and fluctuating temperatures. They grow quickly, are considered fully grown after a year. Then, for each animal, it is decided whether it will be used for breeding or slaughtered.
