"I love this sport, and I didn't want to be done with it," says American artistic and synchronized swimmer Anita Alvarez, who almost drowned at the World Championships two years ago when she fainted. Since then, the athlete, who is competing for the third time at the Olympics, has been monitored "every two weeks" to prevent a similar tragedy, according to the coach of the US artistic swimming team.
