Lower Saxony fears exacerbation of housing shortage

Housing shortage is one of the most pressing social problems in Germany as a whole. Lower Saxony aims to boost housing construction again with a new simplified building code. However, the European Union (EU) is currently planning new building regulations for complete climate neutrality in new buildings by 2030 at the latest. According to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, these plans could further exacerbate the problem.
