The first BMW i4 - Progress for sustainability - fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology

Locally emission-free driving pleasure in the BMW i4 is made possible by the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology. In addition to the electric motors, it also includes the power electronics, the charging technology and the high-voltage battery. An independent design principle developed by the BMW Group for the electric motors and their compact arrangement in a common housing with the transmission and power electronics contribute to the drive's outstanding power delivery and efficiency. This highly integrated drive technology results in a 50 percent improvement in power density compared with the electric drive of the BMW i3 from the 2020 model year.
