The new Volkswagen Passat - Driving partially electric - 48V mild hybrid as a novelty in the Passat

Not every driver can charge privately or professionally. However, even in these cases, Volkswagen offers the opportunity to use electric energy with the Passat eTSI: electricity through the conversion of kinetic energy - the braking or recuperation power. This is made possible by the new mild hybrid drive in the Passat. As with the new plug-in hybrid models (eHybrid), the 1.5 TSI evo2 forms the technical center of the drive here as well. The eTSI is coupled to a 48V lithium-ion battery and a 48V belt-driven starter generator, which provides 14 kW of power and 56 Nm of torque. The 48-volt system acts as an electric booster on the one hand, offering very good acceleration performance. At the same time, the technology enables the complete shutdown of the 1.5 TSI evo2 and thus so-called sailing as well as temporary electric driving. The result: up to 0.5 l/100 km less fuel consumption.
