With the G-TURN, drivers can almost turn the new electric G-Class on the spot. The vehicle can perform up to two complete vehicle rotations in the desired direction on unpaved or loose ground. This not only looks spectacular but can also be helpful when driving off-road – for example, if an obstacle ahead makes further driving impossible. The four independently driven wheels can rotate the vehicle to the left or right. To start the function, the vehicle must be on level ground with closed doors, front wheels in the straight-ahead position, and the brake pedal engaged. In addition, the transmission must be in 'D' position, the 'Rock' driving program selected, and the LOW RANGE off-road gear reduction engaged. Only then can drivers activate the function via the corresponding button on the off-road control unit. By pulling and holding the left or right steering wheel shift paddle, they can choose the desired rotation direction. To start the G-TURN, they must then hold the steering wheel, release the brake pedal, and press the accelerator pedal. After two complete vehicle rotations, the G-TURN will automatically end. Drivers can also manually end the function at any time by releasing the steering wheel shift paddle or the accelerator pedal.
