The Alfa Romeo Junior range receives a new, 100% electrically powered flagship model, the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce. After completing dynamic development tests, the Alfa Romeo engineering team has now confirmed the performance of the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce at 207 kW (280 hp) – a significant increase from the previously communicated 177 kW (240 hp). The electric motor delivers a maximum torque of 345 Newton-meters. This successfully achieved the goal of raising the power level of the electric motor used for the first time by Alfa Romeo to the Veloce variants of Alfa Romeo Giulia (petrol engine), Alfa Romeo Stelvio (petrol engine), and Alfa Romeo Tonale (plug-in hybrid), which also each deliver 207 kW (280 hp). The new Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce was developed and tested in Balocco. Located on the Alfa Romeo test track, approximately halfway between the northern Italian cities of Turin and Milan, Alfa Romeo has been testing both racing cars and production models under high secrecy since 1963. Balocco was the home of the Alfa Corse works team, which competed in Formula 1, the German Touring Car Championship (DTM), the World Endurance Championship, and other international racing series. The development goal for the new Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce was no different from that of other sports models of the brand: a safe and highly dynamic driving behavior was required. The same engineering team that developed the current Quadrifoglio versions of Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio, as well as the earlier models 4C, 8C, Giulia GTA, and the supercar Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, was responsible for the chassis and suspension of the new Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce.
