The new Kia EV6 - maximizing range with heat pump and recuperation

Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

Energy recovery technologies contribute to the EV6's long range. These include the latest generation of Kia's energy-efficient, optional heat pump, which uses waste heat from the vehicle's cooling system. This allows the EV6 to still achieve 80 percent of the range possible at an outside temperature of minus 7 degrees when the temperature is 25 degrees. The latest generation of Kia's intelligent regenerative braking system is also used. It can recover kinetic energy when the vehicle decelerates to maximize the EV6's range and efficiency. The standard system can be conveniently operated via paddle shifters on the steering wheel, with the driver able to choose between six settings depending on the desired level of energy recovery (switched off / Level 1, 2, 3 / "i-PEDAL" / Auto mode). The maximum energy yield is achieved in "i-PEDAL" mode, which allows the vehicle to be brought gently to a halt without pressing the brake pedal.
