The Subaru Forester is entering its next generation. The sixth edition of the iconic all-wheel drive vehicle is now rolling out to the German market, starting at €40,490 (MSRP including 19% VAT). A sharper design, increased comfort, and safety combine with unrestricted off-road capability and an electrified drivetrain. From a displacement of two liters, the gasoline engine develops 100 kW/136 hp and 182 Nm of torque. The four-cylinder engine is supported by a small 12 kW/17 hp electric motor. The mild hybrid system, known as the e-Boxer, improves responsiveness and fuel efficiency. The continuously variable Lineartronic automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels: The permanent all-wheel drive system Symmetrical AWD, a hallmark of almost all Subaru models, ensures excellent traction off-road. Longer and wider than the previous generation, the new Forester boasts a sporty, robust look. Inside, passengers benefit from the usual generous space. Redesigned front seats and improved sound insulation enhance travel comfort, while the enhanced Eyesight system with twelve new or improved functions contributes to the high level of safety.
Mercedes-Benz has started producing high-performance batteries for its all-electric luxury EQS at its Stuttgart-Hedelfingen plant, as part of the Untertürkheim location in Germany. The EQS marks the start of a new generation of high performance electric vehicles and will offer-a range of more than 700 km (based on WLTP), based on a high efficiency powertrain and advances in battery energy density. Having integrated battery production seamlessly alongside existing transmission production, the Hedelfingen plant has been transformed into an important part of the company’s global battery production network. The quick ramp-up of its global battery production capacities and targeted expansion of battery competencies through the entire value chain are the key pillars of Mercedes-Benz electric initiative - from basic research, cell production up to batteries’ afterlife including 2nd-life applications and recycling. This in-house know-how and vertical integration is key for playing a leading role in electric vehicles. In addition to scaling up the EQS battery production, the Mercedes-Benz Drive Systems Campus Untertürkheim will specifically expand its research and development activities in the field of e-mobility - through a campus for electric and electrified drive systems- as announced earlier this month.
