The head of the train drivers' union GDL Claus Weselsky is still leaving open whether the union would also strike shortly before or after Christmas. The GDL has never gone on strike over Christmas and will not do so this year either, said Weselsky in an interview with "The Pioneer". "I just won't let Mr. Seiler (DB personnel director) tell me when the Christmas truce starts and until when it has to run. That's not his job, we decide that," said Weselsky. Last week, the GDL boss ruled out industrial action on the railways at Christmas. The GDL had declared negotiations with Deutsche Bahn to have failed last Friday and announced warning strikes.
