The incident occurred at the Santa Monica Pier when a man suddenly stabbed the 42-year-old in the chest. The victim initially thought it was a blow but quickly realized the severity of the injury. After emergency surgery, the husband is out of danger but must stay in the USA as he is not fit to fly. The couple had not taken out travel insurance, so a friend started a fundraising campaign to cover the high medical costs. Over 80,000 euros have been raised so far.
