A damper instead of a consolation prize: Germany's handball players missed out on a conciliatory end to the World Cup and finished the tournament in sixth place. The team of national coach Markus Gaugisch lost to the Netherlands on Sunday after a weak performance, but still achieved their best World Championship result since bronze 16 years ago.
