Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has sharply criticized Ukraine in the Hungarian Parliament. He stated that Hungary will not support Ukraine in international matters as long as the government in Kyiv does not grant rights to the ethnic Hungarians in Ukraine. The conflict arose after Ukraine passed a law in 2017 restricting the use of minority languages in schools. They want to convert (Hungarian schools) into Ukrainian schools, and if that doesn't work, they want to close them, Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary. There are around 150,000 ethnic Hungarians living in Ukraine. These statements come against the backdrop of EU Chief Ursula von der Leyen's proposal to expand the European Union. EU member states will decide on this issue in December.
