La Palma volcano: Formula 1 star Fernando Alonso auctions his helmet

The volcanic eruption on La Palma finds no end. Meanwhile, more than 2000 buildings have been destroyed. Now the Spanish Fomel-1 driver Fernando Alonso has announced that he will wear a specially designed helmet at the US Grand Prix. This shows on the back a volcanic cone, from which several lava flows pour. One of the lava flows splits at the top and rejoins at the bottom, with the split lava flow forming a heart. The other lava flows, shown in orange and red, flow over yellow areas where many small bananas can be seen if you look closely. On the lower back edge of the helmet is the inscription La Palma in white, yellow and blue, the colors of the Canary flag. "Everything that is happening there with the volcano taking away many people's homes and their properties there, destroying their lives, has made me want to wear this helmet," Alonso said. The helmet is to be auctioned off to the highest bidders on 04 November 2021. The proceeds from the sale are to benefit those affected on La Palma.
