Missing a connecting flight can disrupt the entire journey. However, according to a retired flight attendant, there are some simple travel habits that can help reduce the risk. One of the most common mistakes travelers make is booking connecting flights with too little layover time. Although airlines often offer short layover times, experts recommend allowing at least 45 minutes for domestic flights and two hours for international connections, especially at larger airports. Another common mistake is booking individual legs with different airlines. If your first flight is delayed, the second airline may not know you have a connecting flight, making it less likely to hold the flight or assist with rebooking. Seat selection can also be crucial. Travelers with tight layover times should choose seats closer to the front of the plane to disembark quickly after landing. Flight attendants also recommend booking flights with early morning departures whenever possible. Earlier flights tend to experience fewer delays, reducing the likelihood of missing a connecting flight later in the day. And finally, traveling light saves valuable time. Those traveling with only carry-on luggage don't have to worry about delays with checked baggage or retrieving luggage at certain layovers.
Conservation Scientists have discovered two dwarf giraffes in Africa. The two giraffes, named Gimil and Nigel, were spotted in Uganda and Namibia by Conservation Scientists working with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation and The Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute. Gimil, a nubian giraffe, was first observed in 2015 at Uganda's Murchison Falls National Park. Researchers noticed the male had disproportionate limb dimensions. The team returned to the park over the next few years to take photos and measurements as he grew, Gimil was last observed in July 200, when the last images and measurements were taken. Nigel, an Angolan giraffe, was living on a private farm in Namibia and was also monitored over the course of a few years. The team found that the smaller girafffes had shorter legs than their counterparts, the pair also exhibited shortened fore-limbs to varied degrees and had different neck lenght. Due to the giraffes living past the age of one year, the team are confident the condition should not impact their survival rate.
