The Bertelsmann media group is making radical cuts at the traditional Hamburg-based publisher Gruner + Jahr, 700 jobs are to be eliminated, 23 magazines are to be sold or discontinued. The company's CEO made the announcement to the publishing house's staff in Hamburg on Tuesday. There is not much left of Europe's largest publishing house, the merger on a par with RTL has virtually failed and the media location Hamburg continues to shrink.
The alarming findings were published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society Journal on Wednesday.
