In today's world, safety is an essential part of vacation planning and well-being for LGBTQIA+ travelers while having fun. Gay Travel Index has identified the safest travel destinations for the LGBTQIA+ community by examining things like anti-discrimination laws and transgender rights. Additionally, factors such as oppressive religious influences, law enforcement, and the death penalty were also considered. Canada, Malta, New Zealand, Portugal, and Spain are tied for the safest countries for queer travelers in 2024. Closely followed by Australia, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Norway, and Uruguay. The USA ranked 41st on the LGBTQIA+ safety list, and countries that remain unsafe for queer travelers include Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Chechnya. Interestingly, Norway rose from 17th place to 8th place this year, largely due to the abolition of conversion therapies. Estonia also improved by 15 places to rank 32nd, ultimately due to the legalization of same-sex marriage.
