Your phone fell in water? How to safely dry it
There is nothing worse than dropping your phone in water and then realizing that it's not functioning properly. Although putting the phone in rice is an age-old solution, Apple has issued a recommendation to discourage people from using this method. The first step is to clean your phone externally after turning it off before removing the SIM card and its holder for drying. If you have an iPhone and can't remove the battery, tap the phone with the ports facing down against your hand to let the water flow out. Using a hairdryer or compressed air on the phone is not recommended as it can lead to complications and damage the device. Apple advises against using rice to dry a wet phone as rice particles can get trapped in the device and potentially cause damage. If you have taken the right steps, your phone should be dry again within a few days, but it's also advisable to have your phone serviced.
