Mercedes-Benz opens the most advanced light test center in the automotive industry - Consistent digitalization - More efficient, faster, and more sustainable testing

Like all test modules in Immendingen, the Heidedauerlauf also has a 'Digital Twin.' The test track is digitally mapped down to the millimeter range, vehicles and stresses are digitally mirrored. These data are used in preliminary simulations, serve as load collectives for test benches, and thus enable test results to be quickly fed back into the development departments. This digital testing is so precise today that often many 1,000 kilometers are driven digitally before the first real test kilometer on the test track. Specifically, for example, in chassis tuning, more than 100 different variations are digitally tested for each new model series. And only the most suitable variants are then installed in a prototype and tested in Immendingen. This is one of the great advantages of Immendingen: that almost all test requirements for real testing - except for snow/ice and extreme heat - are bundled at one location.
