The new Porsche Macan sets standards

It's this line. Just a stroke on the paper. And yet a manifesto. The coupe-like roofline of the Macan and the striking rear with its Porsche-typical shape quote the unmistakably taut flyline of the 911. This time, however, not just as a mere reminiscence of the icon. Rather, the form along with the rear spoiler is a pioneering innovation in the all-electric SUV segment. "The active aerodynamic elements all significantly contribute to the range," says aerodynamicist Thomas Wiegand. "We have an automatically extending rear spoiler, active cooling flaps at the front air intakes, and flexible covers on the underbody." In the wind tunnel in Weissach, under one roof with the Style Porsche design department, the aerodynamics of the completely newly developed Macan become visible. It is the first Porsche based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) created jointly with Audi. This platform benefits from synergies in development but is at the same time highly flexible, allowing Porsche to implement its own technical and brand-specific requirements. The complete electrification of the high-volume series marks an important milestone on the way to the goal of delivering more than 80 percent of new vehicles fully electrically by 2030 - depending on demand and the development of electromobility in the world's regions.
