The upgraded Audi A8 - the anticipatory active chassis

The highlight in the revised A8 is the anticipatory active chassis. It can load or relieve each wheel individually with additional forces via an electric motor and thus actively regulate the position of the body in every driving situation. The anticipatory active suspension gives the driving experience in the Audi A8 a fascinating spectrum. When the dynamic mode is set in the Audi drive select system, the large sedan shows its sporty side. It steers tightly into corners, the roll angle is low, and the body hardly dips when braking. In the comfort+ mode, on the other hand, it floats velvety over bumps. Here, the controller works together with the front camera, which means it can detect unevenness within the system limits and regulate the actuators predictively. In the comfort+ mode, the anticipatory active suspension has a special feature ready - the integrated cornering function reduces the lateral acceleration acting on the occupants. At the entrance of the curve, it raises the body on the outside of the curve and lowers it on the other side, thereby leaning it into the curve by up to three degrees. In the speed window between 80 and 130 km/h and in the range of up to 0.4 g lateral acceleration, cornering is hardly noticeable. When driving straight ahead in the comfort+ profile, the anticipatory active suspension compensates for pitching movements of the body. It raises the body by up to 50 millimeters for easy entry and exit
