Skoda 4×4 Winter Experience - Good handling in demanding driving situations

The all-wheel drive systems, in conjunction with the modern multi-link rear axle, ensure very good handling at all times. By distributing the drive force over four wheels, the individual wheel has to transmit less power than in a vehicle with two driven wheels, so each wheel retains its grip for longer. This greater leeway until the grip limit is reached, for example for the transmission of lateral guidance forces, allows the vehicle to start off even on slippery surfaces. In keeping with the cold season, Škoda Auto also offers comfort features such as seat, steering wheel, windshield or parking heaters. Škoda's 4×4 drive comes into its own especially in winter, but also offers great advantages on unpaved surfaces and when towing a caravan, or boat or horse trailers. The electronic control system reacts in milliseconds to changes in road conditions and stabilizes the driving behavior by redistributing the drive power even before the driver recognizes a potential hazard or can intervene himself. The heart of the Škoda all-wheel drive system for vehicles with combustion engines is the electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. A modern multi-link rear axle is installed in all Škoda 4×4 models, ensuring precise wheel control and thus enhancing handling, safety and comfort for passengers. The most important physical advantage of all-wheel drive is the distribution of drive power to all four wheels. In the process, each individual wheel transmits less power than in a vehicle with only one driven axle. This leaves more room to maneuver before reaching the limit of grip, which can be used to transmit lateral forces, for example. The vehicle thus remains controllable. In addition, the all-wheel drive can transmit more power, which enables better acceleration and is even a prerequisite for starting off if necessary.
