Trial of Kim Kardashian's Robbery Begins in Paris

Ten individuals, known as the 'grandpa robbers,' are standing trial in connection with the 2016 robbery of reality TV star Kim Kardashian in Paris. The defendants are accused of armed robbery, kidnapping, and criminal conspiracy after stealing $10 million worth of jewelry from Kardashian. The trial, significantly delayed due to other high-profile cases, is expected to last just under a month. Kardashian's lawyer, Michael Rhodes, confirmed to CNN that the star is expected to testify in May. 'Ms. Kardashian is saving her statement for the court and the jurors and does not wish to comment further at this time. She greatly appreciates and admires the French justice system and has been treated with great respect by the French authorities,' Rhodes told CNN. Kardashian was alone in her bedroom, without security guards, when five robbers, posing as police officers, forcibly entered the apartment and locked her in the bathroom. The robbers allegedly tied up Kardashian and held her at gunpoint in the downtown apartment, traumatizing the star. Originally, 12 individuals were charged in the case; however, one of them has since passed away, and another, named Pierre Bouianere, is facing a separate trial that is expected to be dropped for health reasons. After the robbery, Kardashian told viewers of her reality TV show 'Keeping up With The Kardashians' that she thought she was going to be raped and killed by the men. The robbers were dubbed 'grandpa robbers' due to their ages ranging from 35 to 78 years old. Two of the robbers have admitted their involvement in the robbery, but the other men have denied it.
