French political crisis: Far-right leader Le Pen attends firefighters' convention in Le Mans
French far-right National Rally party leader Marine Le Pen attends the national firefighters' convention in Le Mans (southwest of Paris) as French President Macron invites party leaders and National Assembly group leaders to the Élysée Palace (with the exclusion of the National Rally (Rassemblement National) and France Unbowed (La France Insoumise)) before appointing a new prime minister. Macron is due to pick a head of government to lift the country out of political crisis, with allies irritated he could rename the same prime minister who quit earlier this week. IMAGES
