British Prime Minister Keir Starmer says the government is working with Indian authorities "to establish the facts" following the Air India flight 171 crash. Speaking from Downing Street, the Prime Minister describes the crash, which had 53 Britons onboard, as "absolutely devastating". The Gatwick Airport-bound aeroplane left Ahmedabad, the main city of India's Gujarat state, with 242 people on board and smashed into a building housing doctors and their families in a crowded residential area shortly after takeoff.
